January 14, 2022

Good Morning Tiger Families,

We are excited to welcome our students back into the building on Monday January 17th, for in-person learning who were currently enrolled in-person prior to the winter break.  Please review the following pertinent information in regards to the return to learn at Hillcrest Public School.

Arrival & Dismissal

If you are a family that walks or drops off your children, please ensure that you are wearing a mask and social distancing while on school property.  Once your child(ren) have been picked up or dropped off, please do not congregate in the parking lot or dismissal area as we use a staggered dismissal procedure to ensure lower numbers of people are gathering at one time to ensure safety.

Communication

Please make sure that the office has your most recent email and phone number for communication purposes.  As well, please make sure that emergency contact information is current.  Please contact the office to update if necessary.

Masking

Students will be required to wear masks at all times in the school except during designated nutrition breaks.  Masks are also required to be worn while riding any type of school provided transportation.  The mask must cover their nose and mouth at all times.  Please review this expectation with your children.

Updated Daily COVID-19 Self-Screening Tool

As a reminder, families are asked to ensure that their child(ren) complete and pass the COVID-19 self-screening tool daily, prior to attending school. Based on the recommendation of the OCMOH, the has been updated and includes a more sensitive COVID-19 symptom list as well as the requirement for anyone with symptoms of COVID-19 to self-isolate and stay home, regardless of vaccination status. Families will receive daily reminders to complete the COVID-19 self-screening tool with their child(ren) and students will be asked, upon arrival at school, to confirm that it has been completed.

Daily Covid 19 School Screening Tool

Please see Return to School Public Health Flow Chart.pdffor support if you have any questions after completing the daily screening.

Rapid Antigen Tests

Based on our current supply, all in-person students, school staff and bus drivers will be provided with two rapid antigen tests to be used when individuals are symptomatic. Rapid antigen tests will be sent home with students. Further information regarding the use of the tests will be provided.  Please note that tests will only be given to students who are at school learning in-person.

Technology Return

Families that have borrowed technology may return it with students on Monday January 17th, 2022 if they feel their child(ren) can transport the device and charger safely to school.  Families may also return the device and charger to the front door of the school and ring the buzzer.  There will be staff available to assist you.  Please note that if technology was borrowed for this period of remote learning, it must be returned even if you are deciding to keep your child home to learn asynchronously.

We are excited to welcome back our in-person learners on Monday and we will be providing any updates and communication as it comes our way.  Please check your email regularly for important information regarding Hillcrest Public School.

Thank you,

Mr. Meraska & Mrs. Kenny
