Return to In-Class Learning to In-Class Learning

Good Afternoon Tiger Families,

Mrs. Kenny and I would like to THANK YOU for all of your support as we pivoted to remote learning after the break, and also for the continued support as we pivot back to in-class learning. You should have received information from SCDSB on February 4, 2021 about the return to learning process and some of the new requirements that the Health Unit has put into place starting on February 8, 2021.

All students from Kindergarten (JK and SK) to Grade 12 will be required to wear a mask. Families are encouraged to provide cloth masks for their children that cover the nose and mouth. It is a good idea to send your child with an extra mask or 2 each day (when outside, masks get wet).

The SCDSB will provide masks to students who do not have them. This new requirement aligns with the advice of the SMDHU and adds another layer of protection to the existing preventative measures already in place at SCDSB schools.

Each day, families MUST complete the COVID-19 student screening tool prior to coming to school. The COVID-19 student screening tool is available here: . In addition, as part of the updated health and safety measures announced by the Ministry of Education, students will be required to wear a mask outdoors, where physical distancing cannot be maintained.

We will continue with our staggered entry and exit procedures as they were before the winter break. Please remember that Kindergarten students will be dismissed from the FRONT DOORS. We ask that in the morning when you drop off your child(ren), please drop them at the gate and continue on with your day. Please don't congregate at the fence or in the parking lot. As well, at the end of the day, once you have your child(ren), please make your way home. Please note that when on school property, masks MUST be worn by adults and children.

We are asking that families who borrowed technology from the school please return it on Monday February 8, 2021. You can either return it to the school yourself, or safely pack it in your child's backpack. Please make sure that your child lets their teacher know that they have technology in their backpack if you are returning it this way.

Thank you to everyone for your continued support and as we pivot back to in-class learning, we know that the support from our families and students will make this a smooth transition.

Thank you,

Mr. Meraska & Mrs. Kenny
